A Whirlwind of Angst and Ambivalence
There are so many changes – so many adjustments. You find yourself excited and overwhelmed, thrilled and apprehensive, eager and nostalgic.
And also confused, isolated, paralyzed, and unable to manage your daily routine at school and home.
Relationships with parents, friends – even yourself – are strained, and you’re feeling disconnected and unable to join in with them.
Alienated, you’re stranded in a fog within yourself.
But that’s life. Change happens.
Yet, as a college student, you’re finding it terrifying to leave your dorm room other than to attend classes. Some days, even that is a challenging strain.
As a high school student, adjusting to being on campus after a year plus of online school has you overthinking every detail.
Who will you hang out with each period – where will you sit for lunch?
You’re happy to be back on campus, but you’re also obsessing about how many students are in your classes, and you’re upset with yourself because you can’t stop these thoughts.
Sometimes, you’re happy about all these changes – you want to be an adult and want people to treat you that way. But the problems that go along with the process have hijacked control of your life.
And who are you, anyway?
Discovering yourself during this phase of your life isn’t an easy task, either.
Perhaps you’ve identified to be non-binary and want they/them to be the pronouns you identify with; however, you haven’t been able to voice this with parents, other family members, or friends.
You can’t talk to them because you’re afraid they wouldn’t really understand.
How do you move forward without judgment, rejection, or shaming?
How do you balance your schoolwork along with your social life?
Lost in thought about things left unsaid or unresolved feelings, you’re zoning out repeatedly instead of getting your work done.
Or perhaps you’re excessively daydreaming, creating scenarios about the way you want life to be – or trapped, reliving nightmares about how it is.
And you feel powerless to accomplish anything constructive. Why does it have to be so difficult?
And why do you have to do it all alone?
Wouldn’t it be great to have some support? Someone in your corner?
Someone to show you how to quiet down the stories (narrative) inside yourself.
To help you reconnect with your body and mind – to feel more at one within yourself.
There is hope and a place to seek help.
I’ve been working with college and high school-age students for over 25 years.
And I’ve created a safe, calming, judgment-free space where you can feel open and free – not trapped and paralyzed.
Where you can silence the chaos.
Where you can finally breathe and simply be yourself.
I want to hear what’s troubling you.
I want to understand what’s keeping you from feeling at one with your mind and body.
When we work together, it’s all about you. I will hear, receive, and honor your story.
You’ll learn how your storytelling has been serving you – or not. We’ll discover your strengths and courage.
And you’ll learn how to update your narrative to maximize your gifts and resolve your worries and fears.
